Marktplatzstuberl in Bad Berneck im Fichtelgebirge

Today I was in Bad Berneck by chance and was hungry. My choice fell on the Marktplatzstüberl. A very good decision. I ate my favorite Viennese schnitzel. Finally a schnitzel the way you want it. Not as thinly pounded as in many other restaurants, very well seasoned and well fried in the pan. Fried potatoes as a side dish. And they were as delicious as the schnitzel. In many restaurants today you only get schnitzel, which, like the most commonly served French fries, go straight from the freezer to the deep fryer. Not so in the Marktplatzstüberl. Freshly prepared, well seasoned, even better fried and very tasty fried potatoes. I was very pleased.

Okay in terms of price. Service was also extremely courteous. Unfortunately the food wasn't that good. The sauerkraut to my Schäufele was visibly warmed up in the microwave etc because the top layer was dried out. In addition, the Schäufele was no longer crispy and was apparently only warmed up instead of at least grilled again. Overall from the food, at least not satisfactory for me.

I really enjoyed this place. They have a lot of steaks, but also a seasonal card that I really enjoyed. The location is great and spacious on the outside. Their prices fit to their quality and is definitely moderate. The staff was helpful, very friendly and open minded. If you want to experience some great Bavarian food in an excellent town (it feels just too cozy), that’s your place to go.

The host was unfortunately very unappealing. The salad from the buffet dry and the trout average. Only the schnitzel was good. The tablecloth was dirty on arrival and generally too little love / customer orientation.

Very nice host, business savvy, gave us another table before the actual reservation. The food was delicious, tasteful and definitely fresh. Gladly again, unfortunately we have only been in Bad Berneck for one night.

Nice and cozy restaurant on the market square of Bad Berneck. Nice selection of food. Also many Franconian specialties. Different types of beer. Also Franconian varieties. The Kellerbier is highly recommended. Also good selection of schnapps. Food and prices are ok.

Great atmosphere. The Schnitzel was very good, the Bratkartoffeln were the best I've ever eaten and the bier was great. Dinner for 2 was under 30€.

Typical German restaurant with a nice variety of bavarian dishes. The waiter was very friendly and proactive and the food was delicious. I totally recommend it!
